Every time I see you now

I remember how it was

that perfect time in my life

with you by my side

and I was invincible in your arms





and even though the time was short

it stands immortal

forever young in the palace of my mind

kept in plain view

to tide me through the rainy days

the times when I'm inconsolable





It was always a case of kiss and control

your kisses were a drug

your body nymphetamine

and your smile the light that thawed my heart





All those perfects moments

were worth all the pain

that I hid and buried deep

concealed with smiles and laughter





Each kiss we stole

I struggled to control

The demons raging within my soul

I crushed them

And lived within those perfect moments

That still I hold dear






With you, I felt appreciated

With you, I felt like I belonged

And now, as it always was
