FOOTSTEPS

I set out in this world,
Confident it was the right thing to do.
But when I look back on the path I had tread,
My footsteps led back to you.
I remember our last encounter,
Harsh words had been exchanged.
I left you standing there all alone,
Wondering if you were the one to blame.
I thought I could cope and make it alone,
I thought I could make it through.
But in the past when I was in trouble
My footsteps led back to you
However, this time was different,
You were not by my side.
All I had to comfort me
Was a bruised ego and shattered pride
Soon failure and depression surrounded me,
And it was only then I knew it to be true.
The reason I was able to cope in life was because,
My footsteps led back to you.
I returned to you not a man,
But a boy with my head hung low
Tears ran down my face as I said Im sorry
You whispered, its ok, I already know
Now we are back together,
We will face the world, just me and you.
I know that we will succeed because,
My footsteps lead back to you.
