Out of gas

A man runs his car out of gas thereby completely emptying his 16 gallon tank. He has only a 3, a 6 and a 11 gallon container (and unfortunately a wagon to carry the containers in) in his truck. He has nothing else in w/c he can carry gas. He walks a few miles to a gas station, and as luck would have it the gauge on the pump is broken so he can not use that to measure the fuel. He is in a pretty remote area w/ only 1 gas station for miles. Gas cost $3.099 and he has only $50. Using only the containers provided, and only walking once to and frm the gas station.

The question is how can he get exactly 16 gallons of gas into his car?

THAT'S HIS PROBLEM!!!! SORRY I CAN'T CARRY A GALLON FOR HIM!!! I WILL SUGGEST TO HIM TO WALK THE GOLDEN MILE!

Juv..he should bring a 6 and a 11 gallon cntainers to buy gas.guage is broken ? Den buy 50 dollar of gas.go back to his car angd fill the empty tank.if the tank is full it means it is 16 gallons of gas. And leave the rest to the container .thats all baby..

Bro eye ur right but how he cn transfer to other gas station his car has no fuel? ur n the 2nd step bro u mis d 1st step hahaha..

i guess gladden was right, there must be a kiss for the first step....

1. Fill the 11-gallon container full then transfer 6 gallons to 6-gallon container. What remains is 5 gallons.

2. Remove the gas from the 6-gallon container then transfer the 5 gallons from 11-gallon container into it.

3. Fill up the 11-gallon container again full. Now you have 11 gallons + 5 gallons = 16 gallons.

the pump is broken so there is a big possibility that the gas station is closed.. there is no way they will sell gas without a metering device provided by the gas station itself...calibrated by the trade authorities concern. possibly...
