How to Clean Up Your Computer - Step 1
Determine that you want to completely erase hard drive data, but not your programs or operating system. If this is correct, go to Step 2. If this is not correct, see our guide to clean up your computer and removing all programs.
How to Clean Up Your Computer - Step 2
It is easy to clean up your computer with SecureClean
After completing the installation, you will be prompted to select the function that you would like to use first.
Scan - this allows you to search for deleted and hidden personal data.
Clean - this will set cleaning options and securely clean up your computer.
We recommend that you select to Scan first.
Once you have selected the Scan Drives Now button, click OK.
(The SecureClean LiveUpdate window will ask you whether you would like to see if an updated version is available online. An Internet connection is required to check for these updates. If you installed SecureClean from the CD, you should check for an updated version.)
The SecureClean Scanner window has two main buttons: Scan Drives for Personal Data and Clean Drives.
Scanning Drives
To begin scanning your drives, click the round button labeled Scan Drives for Personal Data.
SecureClean will scan your system and show you a list of recoverable items found on you drives. These include deleted files, hidden temp files, Internet histories, etc. Scanning time may vary depending upon your computer.
When the Category line and Item line both read None, the Scanner has finished scanning. Once you have selected the number of overwrites, answer yes to the confirmation prompts to begin the wiping process.
Cleaning Your Drives
To access the cleaning function, click the round button labeled Clean Drives.
This option will take you to a page where you can select a cleaning method.
Quick Clean - quickly cleans Internet, deleted e-mail, and temporary files.
Secure Clean - removes all deleted files. This option is more time intensive.
Schedule - allows you to set up automated cleanings.
How to Clean Up Your Computer - Step 3
Verify that your computer is clean. Do this by running the SecureClean Scanner to verify that information has been cleaned off your computer.
